Where it all began.
It was the week before Christmas of 2004 and my wife and I were visiting my in-laws for the holidays. It was a very special Christmas because it would be the last Christmas before my wife and I moved away to the east coast in order for her to begin her Medical School education. I wanted to give my in-laws a Christmas present that would be very memorable and being the “techie” of the family, I immediately thought about converting all of their old photos to digital so that they can keep their memories forever. For the rest of the week, every chance I had, when my in-laws were not around or late at night, I began to go through the boxes in the garage to find their old photos. I hand scanned them, cropped them, color corrected them, removed all the red-eyes, cleaned up the dust & scratches and repaired & restored the old, torn photos. By the end of the week, I was nowhere near finished but I had a few hundred digitized photos that I made into a slide show synced to music and surprised my in-laws with it on Christmas morning. We all sat around and watched it about 3 times, with tears of joy.
What started as a Christmas present for my in-laws, later, for friends and family, has grown into:
